Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. Your generous donation will be used to fund high-quality educational programming around urban agriculture for our youngest learners at Flance Early Learning Center, Guardian Angel Child Development Center our apprentices and the broader St. Louis community.

Between Giving Tuesday (11/29) and the end of the year, we are seeking to raise $20,000 to support these programs.

Will you help us reach end-of-year goal by December 31?

Urban Harvest STL is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible – make your donation by December 31 to ensure that it can be deducted in this year’s taxes.

How will my gift be used?

  • Little Sprouts Garden Curriculum: Since 2016 Urban Harvest STL has partnered with Flance Early Learning Center to maintain an edible garden and provide weekly garden and cooking lessons to their preschool classes. In 2021, Flance was the only school in Missouri to receive the US Department of Education Green Ribbon School award. This award acknowledges Flance’s commitment to sustainable practices and leadership in facilities, health, and environmental education. In August of 2022, we embarked on a new partnership with Guardian Angel Child Development Center to expand our Little Sprouts program to two early childhood education centers. We will begin garden instruction in March 2023 at Guardian Angel.

  • Apprenticeship Program: Urban Harvest STL’s apprenticeship program was crafted to provide equitable opportunities in urban agriculture by offering apprentices a stipend of $400, transportation assistance. Our apprenticeship is focused on empowering individuals to become more active in their gardens and communities with an emphasis on urban farming and food justice. In 2022, we were overwhelmed with interest from the community. From the 72 submitted application, we graduated 20 apprentices. In 2023 we hope to expand this program and offer 24 apprenticeships.

  • Community Engagement: Building on our Little Sprouts program, in 2023, we are adding family-friendly and child-centric activities to our series of workshops. We are also looking to engage with and support the efforts of BIPOC urban growing spaces in the city of St. Louis through workshops collaboration, community garden bed support, and seed grants for new urban growers.

Why is it important?

Your gift will support individuals on their path to become more active in their gardens and communities. Thank you for contributing to a vital, thriving urban agriculture movement in St Louis.

It’s never too little or too late to champion a healthy, just, racially equitable food system in St. Louis.
