Grandel Square Center for Urban Agriculture

Welcome to Urban Harvest STL’s newest farm! Through a grant from the USDA and in partnership with the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, Urban Harvest STL is creating the Grandel Square Center for Urban Agriculture. Located in the heart of the Grand Arts District, the Center will explore the intersection of art and agriculture, while demonstrating low to no cost farming techniques. When complete, the space will include a demonstration farm, classroom, community gathering space, agricultural lending library, and a community supported agriculture program.  As we build the farm, we will offer workshops, teaching other growers how they can upcycle and repurpose materials to install similar structures in their spaces.

When complete, the Center will host compensated educational programs; free workshops and gardening materials; tool lending, seed sharing and agricultural library.  Urban Harvest STL also looks to infuse art into the garden space through sculpture and murals designed by artists participating in Kranzberg Arts Foundation Artist in Residence program, co-located in the education center building. In return, produce grown in the demonstration garden and procured from local farmers will be distributed to these artists through a free Community Supported Agriculture style system.

Construction will begin in 2024.
