SOLD OUT: Workshop: Honey Bees

It has been said that bees are responsible for one out of every three bites of food we eat. Most crops grown for their fruits require pollination by these insects. Bees play a critical role in maintaining natural plant communities and biodiversity, yet bee communities have been declining over the last half century. Now more than ever, it is critical to provide these beneficial pollinators a habitat free of pesticides, full of nectar and pollen resources, and a safe home.

This workshop will provide an overview on what it takes to get started. Please bring your bee questions and curiosity to this discussion of bee biology, equipment and tools, stings and protective clothing, and resources for continued learning.

About the Educator
Jennifer McComb is in her seventh year keeping honey bees, mostly in St Louis City. Her bee picture diary may be seen on Instagram here.
